Sketching the Body

Sketching the body is a drawing response to capture the sensations generating from improvising together. This is inspired by the work of Nancy Stark Smith.

Capturing Energy

Dancers take turns rotating roles as the sketcher or the mover, acknowledging that both are participating in generation of our shared dance. This is inspired by the work of Dr. Adesola Akinleye of DancingStrong Movement Lab.

Witnessing

Dancers explore embodied listening through the act of witnessing. How can witnessing alter what the mover shares? How can the listener provide nonverbal support?

Phrase Building

Dancers create movement phrases with moments or gestures from each sketch laid out in a randomized order.
